What:
the RF output frequency of an oscillator

Direction:
needs to match the application. Changes in frequency due to changes in bias (pushing), load impedance (pulling), or temperature must also be acceptable. For a VCO, the tuning linearity (rate of change of frequency vs. tuning voltage) is typically also a critical specification. These parameters depend on circuit design (especially resonator Q) as well as the properties of the transistor.

Range:
kHz to 10 GHz (bipolars)
MHz to 20 GHz (FETs)
