Varactor Diode
 
A diode which, when operated in a reverse-biased condition, provides a junction capacitance that varies with applied voltage. Varactor diodes are commonly used as an "electrically variable" capacitor in tuned circuits (such as those in voltage-tuned oscillators), or as a frequency multiplier.
